Proyecto Chiringa was born in 2003 to register, think, and disseminate the audiovisual realities of the contemporary world. Since its founding, Proyecto Chiringa has produced five documentaries: Aljuriya, an award-winning documentary about the occupation of Palestine; 30,000, about the missing people in Argentina during the dictatorship; Mi Comunidad, mi familia, for the Alianza Comunitaria de Puerto Rico; Trazos de islas, about the solidarity of Cuban children with Vieques; and Punto de giro, about the last night of US Navy's Camp García in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Aljuriya has been shown in Barcelona, La Habana, Ciudad de Guatemala, Caracas, and San Juan.
